But when I said "shell script" I was hoping for "POSIX shell script". Rather like this POSIX shell script that attempts to make any ISO into a bootable USB media.

What do i need to start with Linux?
If you run from a live environment, it's also good to use boot iso. A 100kB script which does a better job than 100 MB etcher...
