If you're into this sort of thing, antigen is a package manager for zsh plugins. I really like fzf-tab (I personally only activate fzf on a double-tab, I found it got in the way a bit as the default).

I am sure it is something I am doing wrong but I have followed the install instructions at https://github.com/Aloxaf/fzf-tab correctly afaik.
You went to the effort of filing a Github issue but didn't look for prior issues that matched your exact problem? https://github.com/Aloxaf/fzf-tab/issues/245 - seems to be identical to your issue.
