TeslaUSB users: Which Raspberry Pi should I get?
On the TeslaUSB page, it lists the following Raspberry Pi's as options:
-
Left my 2019 Model 3 SR+ at the cruise terminal for five days with just sentry mode enabled. Used about 10% per day.
Main difference between the two scenarios, however, is that the 3 was left in a parking garage, while the Y was left in an open field. With the 3 in a parking garage, I don't think the vehicle went over 100 degrees, while the Y, being left in an open field, would sometimes hit about 150 degrees. Because the temperatures were more reasonable in the parking garage, I also left my Raspberry Pi running TeslaUSB in the car, where as with the Y being left in an open field and being subject to extreme thermal temperatures, I opted to use a regular USB thumb drive there.
-
Why did TeslaCam recording fail right at the moment car alerted me, held my horn, locked my tires, and slid to the left to avoid a collision?
I've found that using something like TeslaUSB reduces the "blip" quite a bit.

Remember to clean up your Sentry mode clips. The car will not warn you when the SSD is full
This has had issues since the newer 2021 Intel-based model 3s (and I presume others). https://github.com/marcone/teslausb/issues/564
- 1TB Solid state drive available now from Tesla
-
Thumb drive or external ssd ?
teslausb with a high endurance microSD card.

When are they going to fish the sentry mode ui?
If you have a Raspberry Pi 0 or 4 you can do a TeslaUSB which let's yoy access the footage over a WiFi gotspot on the thing and a better WebUI.
-
Does tesla track speed? Can I get that data?
If you've driven more than an hour since the incident, the footage will be gone (unless you're using TeslaUSB, but I'm guessing not)
-
Configure a Raspberry Pi as a USB Device
I use this for my Teslas Dashcam (it was built for it), but it also has a feature to rsync music files from a network share every time it connects to the network. Sounds like it would cover what you want, and it supports RPI Zero Ws natively.
- Does Tesla just rebadge Samsung USB drives? This one looks just like our Tesla USBs but lighter...?

Remember to clean up your Sentry mode clips. The car will not warn you when the SSD is full
I set mine up 3 years ago and it's been set and forget - it auto uploads everything to my network drive. Never run out of space! I use TeslaCamViewer2 to play back the video

Left my 2022 Model Y Performance at the airport for about 9 days with just sentry mode enabled. Used about 7% per day.
TeslaCam Viewer II, it's old, but it's worked for many a year now.
-
When do you guys watch sentry mode footage?
If/when I see damage on the car, then I use TeslaCam Viewer II to review the footage from a folder that syncs with OneDrive, and I just scrub until I find the incident.
-
Oblivious driver almost causes an accident
I run my videos through TeslaCam Viewer II, which I have linked on the side bar.
-
A Cleveland Heights PD cop almost caused a serious three car accident while making a traffic stop for a minor violation. A driver that had almost crashed due to the cop's reckless driving stopped to get the officer's info in order to file a complaint. These cops decided to bully the driver instead.
You can also use TeslaCamViewer II to watch all four clips at the same time.
-
This was me today
TeslaCamViewer II. This is what I use to edit down my videos if/when I get them.
-
Best apps/programs for viewing Tesla Sentry Mode footage on the computer?
I use TeslaCam Viewer II - you can use whatever you want to watch the movies on Mac and Windows. I use this since it provides for location and easy view of all 4 cameras at the same time. Works great on Windows.
-
My MYP saved my life last night. Thank you Tesla
