Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

The GIL can now be disabled in Python's main branch
ETH Zurich is using it for their physics sim courses, University of Utah is using it for simulations (SIGGRAPH 2022), OPPO (they make smart devices running Android), Kuaishou uses it for liquid and gas simulation on GPUs. Lots of GPU accelerated sim stuff.

You Don't Know Jax
I've recently started using Taichi (https://taichi-lang.org/) for numerical codes and the fact it doesn't try to trick you into thinking it's numpy is a nice "feature". ;)
- How can I get into this type of animation with programming?

Taichi v1.4.0 released!
Taichi v1.4.0 is released! See what's new: - Taichi AOT, along with a native Taichi Runtime library: Native applications can now load compiled AOT modules and launch Taichi kernels without a Python interpreter. - Taichi ndarray: An array object that holds contiguous multi-dimensional data to allow easy data exchange with external libraries. - Dynamic index: Use variable indices whenever necessary on all backends without affecting the performance of those matrices with only constant indices. See deprecation and more improvements in the release note.

Is Nvidia CUDA Used in VFX Software Tools?
Oh, then if you're not already tied to any particular VFX software, I might as well recommend Taichi again.
-
Marching squares algorithm implemented with Taichi: Struct Taichi fields and dynamic SNodes are used to represent line segments, and linear interpolation applied to smoothen the boundaries.
It's an upgrade of a basic version. See changes to the source code here: https://github.com/taichi-dev/taichi/pull/6851

Easy Access to Terminal Commands in Neovim using FTerm
Having a common set of tools already set up in different windows or sessions in Tmux or Zellij is obviously an option, but there is a subset of us ( π ) that would rather just have fingertip access to our common tools inside of our editor.

Zellij β A terminal workspace with batteries included (tmux alternative)
Of my series of PRs, I suspect the third (i.e. https://github.com/zellij-org/zellij/pull/3043) is most likely to have an effect. But if it does it'd only be as a side effect unfortunately - my focus was on fixing lag with splitting of extremely long lines.
From what I saw while making my changes, that area of the code has a bunch more possible optimisations, but it's 'good enough' for me at this point so I'm not planning to continue pulling at the thread right now. If you wanted to look yourself, I left the script I used for benchmarking and profiling in https://github.com/zellij-org/zellij/issues/2622#issuecommen...
-
what terminal emulator do you use and why?
For this reason, and because I think the Zellij project is interesting, I currently use a combination of Alacritty and Zellij, as I consider the risk of OSC52 in my use case to be relatively low.
-
How would I get the name of the program running in the window that zellij run was ran in?
Hot to run a script on a keybind

Zellij New WASM Plugin System
I entered a comment ( https://github.com/zellij-org/zellij/issues/1625#issuecommen... ) before I read your comment here. Please let me know if that is sufficient.

Come build Zellij WebAssembly (Rust) plugins for your terminal with us!
We do support attaching and detaching. And persisting sessions to disk (and indeed, to any serializable form) is being worked on: https://github.com/zellij-org/zellij/issues/575
