Hrvach/Deskhop: Fast Desktop Switching Device
I use a software called Synergy.
I have one keyboard and mouse connected to one "host" machine, and two machines connected as clients.
Sometimes if the host machine bogs a bit (like running a build or something) then the clients will have some latency but I've used this setup for gaming and work for two years and it's been pretty good.
My only complaint (about my personal setup, not the software) is that one machine has absolutely no peripherals attached to it aside from a monitor, so if I need to update the software, I need to connect a keyboard and mouse in order to do so.
Again, an issue with my setup and a caveat of using software as opposed to hardware.
I’ve been using a software solution for this for over a decade. It’s called Synergy (https://symless.com/synergy) and it is fast - switches instantly over wifi and also works across Windows/Mac/Linux.
No one has mentioned ShareMouse yet? (https://www.sharemouse.com/) In my experience it has worked way better than Synergy. I switched after getting fed up with the synergy developers not responding to various multi-year old bugs that made the software unworkable for me (e.g. https://github.com/symless/synergy-core/issues/5992).
The only downside is that you have to "renew maintenance" to continue receiving updates to ShareMouse after a year. But I haven't done that yet and it still works fine for me.
Synergy is open core, these portions are licensed as GPL: https://github.com/symless/synergy-core/#License-1-ov-file
There is an open source fork that branches off version 1.9: https://github.com/debauchee/barrier#what-is-it
Synergy works well for this purely in software. Unfortunately it's not free or open source, but it's relatively inexpensive.

Linux VNC viewer not displaying MacOS with multiple desktops (single monitor)
i've got several fedora linux machines running and sharing their monitors via synergy (https://symless.com/synergy) , all controlled by the keyboard/mouse on the primary synergy server.

Talon Voice in Visor?
Not sure if this is what you're asking, but I've been using Synergy Pro (Windows, macOS, Linux) for years, and it works seamlessly. It lets you share your mouse and keyboard across multiple systems (with or w/o encryption), copy and paste between computers, etc.

MacBook and windows laptop - setup
I've had the same issue myself for a while. I used to use some free (GPL) virtual KVM software called Synergy, but at some point that was abandoned so I stopped using it. However, it looks like it's now been resurrected -- albeit as paid software. It looks like you can still get it for free if you're willing to compile it from source. Otherwise, the paid version is not prohibitively expensive. I haven't tried the new version yet, but will eventually give it a go...

Extending 2021 Macbook Pro to 2021 iMac
Teleport is like Barrier/Synergy, but only works on Mac. The advantage is that it supports a lot of mac-specific features that Barrier doesn't, like trackpad gestures and rich clipboard syncing.

Can one macOS laptop machine display and control another macOS machine but not remote desktop or something?
teleport (great, free)

Is it possible two connect one magic mouse to two different macs?
Apple calls this "Universal Control" and it works with iPad and some selected Macs. Solutions like this have been available forever on Macs (not iPads) and still are valuable if you use an older Mac. Free ones are eg teleport and barrier. There are many more.

KVM for late 2014 Mini
Synergy is cross-platform, but not free and a "company" I despise. teleport is small and easy to use, Share Mouse works, but won't let you log in (IIRC), barrier is a Synergy look-alike, free and quite usable.
- Found a great free app for using one m/k with two Macs. Teleport.

macOS 12 Monterey beta 10 as of 14th October 2021. They enabled this settings on the Mac.
For those who can’t wait for this feature to be released, I’d recommend the excellent Teleport as a free alternative to Synergy. It’s limited to Mac only, but it’s great at what it does. https://github.com/johndbritton/teleport
