Now, the Matrix Foundation has decided to use Rust to improve bits and pieces of their Gen 1 Home Server - Synapse. The server itself is still largely in Python though. That being said, some of the improvements to the performance of Synapse based home servers can partly be attributed to the usage of Rust.

For synapse it's not possible (https://github.com/matrix-org/synapse/issues/7076). I don't know about the other server implementations

How to restore apps trough .ab files? Adb restore not working....
You can even combine it (can schedule backups) with let's say MiXplorer (has cloud/network storage support & auto tasks), Tasker or Nextcloud, Syncthing etc and have your own backup/restore service running, complete with even the most private parts of the apps' data, their set of permissions etc.

Secure, private Online storage for small business
If you want something like onedrive, you could check out NextCloud (or OwnCloud). You can host it on your machine, or pay someone (eg. a server hosting company) to do it for you. (Note that the admin of the server where NextCloud is running does have access to your files, but probably there is a strict contract between you and not just random ToS without any rights.)

New to home server: probably nuking it
Secure remote access can be facilitated through encrypted tunnels. VPNs, SSH, Cloudflare tunnel, SOCKS, etc. can all be secure ways of remotely accessing network resources. What you use will vary, depending upon the type of access you require and/or prefer. For file management, there are multiple tools for this task - Nextcloud, Seafile, Pydio, Sandstorm, FileRun, and more available for the choosing.

What are some alternatives?
OpenMediaVault - openmediavault is the next generation network attached storage (NAS) solution based on Debian Linux.
