For many years I've been aching to be self-employed through my own LTD and grow it to the point I can re-hire people I've worked with before, without the nonsense of full time employment. Thanks to a redundancy in October, 2023 is the time to make it happen. I've been following this guide (https://github.com/tadast/switching-to-contracting-uk) as well as a lot of advice on this subreddit through google.
  • Contracting in the UK - should I really avoid agencies?

As per my previous post - I'm seriously considering switching from FTE to contracting. I got some really helpful replies on my last post. I've also been reading lots of other resources, most notably this one. The overall impression I get is that agencies are best avoided if at all possible, partly for their duplicitous nature, commission and also because being introduced to a client via an agency affects your future relationship with them.
