Modding Question
If you mean using Nexus' Mod Manager, SteamTinkerLaunch handles installing Vortex through Proton. So you could always just use that as you already are used to.

Vortex is apparently borked on the Deck atm, which is weird, because I managed to install it via Protonqt several weeks ago, even if it didn't work properly,

Installing Custom Windows Components Using Protontricks
Although it would be interesting to have Kinect functionality in Proton, I doubt that installing above exe helps you anything, because you can't use windows hardware drivers within wine/proton. So the best option you have is using libfreenect natively.
