Currently my Windows PC can connect to the controller, and with the help of stadiacontroller and ViGEmBus it works great with Steam games.

for those interested 1. download & install ViGEm 2. download, unzip and run StadiaController Has to be running everytime you want to use the controller. this will emulate everything perfectly

Using this software to emulate it as an XboX controller: https://github.com/71/stadiacontroller. Works fine with USB and BT. Officially not maintained anymore, but don't see any reason why it shouldn't keep working.

Just go to this Gtihub repo and download the latest version available.

Use this instead of StadiaEm. Create a scheduled task to run it at startup under the SYSTEM user if you want to hide the command window.

There's also GlosSI for this.

There are a couple of hoops to jump through to add non-steam/Game Pass games, but GloSSI has really simplified/streamlined set-up.

I started using steamlink more and it works pretty well for me. The only issue I had was if I tried to play nonsteam games (controller not working), but with GlosSI ( https://glossi.flatspot.pictures/ ) then it works

The only difficulty is that the steam deck controller is a steam gamepad rather than a more widely compatible x-input (what non-steam controllers use.) All you need is to install a program that bridges that gap like https://glossi.flatspot.pictures/

If it's the latter, may I suggest GlosSI?

Either GlosSI or OSOL are likely what you're looking for.

You'll probably want to ask on r/WindowsOnDeck to get a better response, but I think there are two basic routes to try here. One is to try to force the Steam overlay to work with something like GloSSI or OSOL. The other is to use 3rd party drivers for the Deck's controls.
