Seamlessly Connect Salesforce to an SFTP Server in Multiple Ways
You can avoid manually uploading and downloading CSV files after an import or export in Salesforce Data Loader. One way to do that is to make your SFTP server a mapped drive in Windows. So, if you map the SFTP server to, let’s say drive Z, you can import or export CSV files from that drive, like it is local to your PC. You can use tools like the open-source SSHFS-Win or a similar tool to make this possible.

Sshfs for Windows
I stopped using it because of this bug [1], otherwise, it was great. The fastest SSH mount on Windows I ever seen. Real shame.

I found 1000 GitHub repos with malware. Can we get them deleted?
A bit late, but there was a bug in the GitHub Win32 OpenSSH that was introduced in last October 2024 cumulative update. This was precipitated by a PR from September 2023. It performs a permissions check on the logs and other folders, and apparently enforces the permissions it expects, as the service crashes/does not start. This seems to affect Windows platforms more as opening an affected location in Windows Explorer probably prompts the user that access is denied, and would you like to update the permissions. https://github.com/PowerShell/Win32-OpenSSH/issues/2282

Day002 - Random posts under TIL
Windows with all the power of bash would be a great experience. By installing GitBash on windows, we can have most of the default tooling available. However, while doing ssh to the machine using OpenSSH, you will endup in Powershell. To change the default shell to gitbash you need to update the key Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OpenSSH\DefaultShell and detailed post can be found here.

Set up an SFTP server on Windows
Unlike Linux, Windows does not come with any tools for setting up an SFTP server. Even FileZilla Server, one of the most popular programs for setting up a FTP server, doesn't support SFTP out of the box. So, are there any other ways to set up an SFTP on Windows? Yes, of course. OpenSSH is a suite of programs for establishing secure connections to the server. sftp-server is one of the utility programs provided by OpenSSH, so this article will walk you through how to set up an SFTP server on Windows using OpenSSH. Originally, OpenSSH was only available on Linux, but Microsoft has ported it to Windows, so you can now use OpenSSH by downloading the zip file from here.
What are some alternatives?
