bqb VS Squirrel - a user suggested alternative
2 projects | 9 Sep 2021
Squirrel is more structured than bqb, but has a much higher memory footprint. Overall I've found that bqb is just as pleasant to use as squirrel, and I usually use bqb for new projects due to it being lighter weight.
Go, Kafka and gRPC clean architecture CQRS microservices with Jaeger tracing 👋🧑💻
14 projects | dev.to | 29 Aug 2021
Writer service consumes kafka topics, process messages writing to postgres and publishes successfully processed messages to kafka. For working with postgres in Go in my opinion the best choose is pgx, but if you need query builder very good library is squirrel, personally don't like orm's, but usually as have seen, teams often uses gorm, it's up to you. ProcessMessages method listening kafka topics and call specific method depends on topic:
SQL query builders
2 projects | dev.to | 28 Jul 2021
Alternatively, when we're using an ORM or query builder (for Go, I like to use squirrel), adding the correct 'WHERE' and 'AND' terms is handled automatically. A small convenience that we could do ourselves, but then we'll find ourselves building our own in-house micro-query-builder.
Has anybody moved from Django (python) to any of the Go backend frameworks?

No such library exists for Go unfortunately, though any query builder is better than an ORM - i.e. [Squirrel](https://github.com/Masterminds/squirrel).
what's your experience writing sql with go?

For programatically built SQL statements, I like: https://github.com/Masterminds/squirrel
Microservices in Go: Accessing PostgreSQL - Statements Builder and Code generators

Masterminds/squirrel is a package that allows you to generate SQL statements using a fluent API, it also supports making database calls directly using those built statements.

In that regard, I think https://github.com/Masterminds/squirrel is great.
How to stream IoT data into Excel
2 projects | reddit.com/r/IOT | 11 Nov 2021
I would suggest using something better suited to IoT data than ... a spreadsheet. I'd recommend looking at one of the Time Series Databases for this. 1) QuestDB or 2) InfluxDB as these are much better suited to streaming data.
Honestly, is Go useful for anything but microservices?

No, not really.

Can't get influxdb to start
1 project | reddit.com/r/influxdb | 25 Aug 2021
Not sure to be honest and the systemd documentation is a bit cryptic 😃. I found this big report where a few people reported that workaround working so I gave it a try. That bug report mentions HTTP auth but that doesn't seem to be the only trigger as I don't use it. https://github.com/influxdata/influxdb/issues/21967
A Developer's First Impression of M3DB
3 projects | dev.to | 27 Jul 2021
What immediately strikes me about M3 is how it is designed to fit in alongside the other tools in a likely architecture. It has interfaces to match the ones we already know and love from Prometheus and InfluxDB. The integration with Grafana is also seamless.
Clarification on bundling with influxdb 2.0?
2 projects | reddit.com/r/influxdb | 10 Apr 2021
Am I missing something? Is the all-in-one TICK stack only a feature of pre-compiled binaries? Should I expect a build from https://github.com/influxdata/influxdb.git to contain a full TICK stack?
Increase web session timeout for InfluxDB v2?
1 project | reddit.com/r/influxdb | 1 Apr 2021
There's a flag to override the default timeout when influxdb is launched, but it appears that it's not working as expected. There's an open issue tracking the fix here so I would recommend keeping an eye on that issue for resolution (hopefully soon!)

Simple Dashboard question
1 project | reddit.com/r/influxdb | 18 Mar 2021
The auto refresh functionality was removed because it led to some folks leaving query-expensive dashboards up and being billed a lot as a result. There are a few ideas in the works to fix that problem. In the meantime, you can thumbs-up or provide feedback on an issue opened by another user who wants to see this feature return, here: https://github.com/influxdata/influxdb/issues/19661

Can you file an issue on https://github.com/influxdata/influxdb/issues? That way I can have an engineer look into it
