How to Build a Personal Website Using GitHub Pages and Hugo?
Some themes don’t have exampleSite. If you’re a beginner, I don’t recommend you to use it now, because you’ll spend much more time to figure out how to set the parameters. When I wrote this article, I was using Hyde as the theme of my site . I like its simple design. It doesn’t have exampleSite . However, I have used several themes before, so I used config file of the previous themes and changed some parameters to set as the Hyde Theme.

Hugo theming question
For the favicon, the text doesn't come from the image. Just create a static/img/ folder at the project's top level and then put a file called favicon.png in there. If you want to use a different format besides PNG, change line 28 of the head.html partial template (https://github.com/panr/hugo-theme-hello-friend/blob/master/layouts/partials/head.html) so that it says (for example) favicon.jpg for a JPG file. That said, I'd suggest using PNG.
I am in the process of moving my existing website from WordPress on an old-school web hosting service to Hugo on S3/CloudFront on AWS. At the moment my Hugo website is using the hello-friend theme. I'm a platform engineer, not a webdev, and I only have so much time available to work on this. I'm not sure how best to achieve the following, e.g. use a different theme; try and customise this theme etc. I'd like to:
...so then, as in the original Hello Friend repo, you'd have baseof.html pulling in the appropriate partials. That is the basis of the advice I gave earlier.
