    2) Improved throughput. There are a few different algorithms that have been developed by Jito Labs and Solana Labs to improve the amount of parallelism happening during block packing (when a leader validator builds a block from transactions) and replay (when other validators replay blocks to make sure they're good). Solana validators have super good hardware but we don't even use that many of the cpu threads for actually executing transactions, and the current block space limits (48 million compute units) were conceived for the use of 4 cpu threads (our validator server has 48 cpu threads). The older block packing algorithm was also really bad at handling situations where a certain transaction type was spammed heavily (nft mints for example) and degraded parallelism. Anyway, it seems that these newer replay algorithms are over 2x better than the current implementations -- you can find more about them in the depths of github or discord. Some seem close to production-ready and I think we will see faster confirmation times and increasing of the block compute limits. ABIv2 is another architectural change that will substantially improve throughput as well (afaik) but I know less on this subject. I'm not sure when this will be ready but I've heard that the earlier half of the year is the target There are other upcoming changes to look forward to, but it's probably best to summarize in another post.

    Lastly, Algorand IS fast: 6k TPS with 3.7s blocks, soon 10k TPS with 2.5s, and in a not-too-distant future 46k TPS, all of which with instant finality. Algorand IS cheap, and actually exactly as cheap as Solana now ($0.00025/txn: &, but with the added benefit that all transactions (whether they're NFTs, non-native assets, or using smart-contracts) are handled the same by the protocol, so same speed and same fees as regular payments. Lastly, Algorand IS clean: it's so clean in fact that it's almost carbon-neutral on a regular basis, but really it's carbon negative because fees are automatically used to offset the remaining carbon emissions with ClimateTrade (see this report, even though it doesn’t take into account recent upgrades in scalability and not comparing smart-contract transactions, so Algorand would be first on top in reality:

Solana is widely touted as a next generation blockchain, with extremely fast transaction settlement and ultra low fees. Additionally, Solana and its ecosystem projects have been on a rampage of releasing new Web3 products. Including Solana Pay, Solana Mobile, Solana Spaces and a lot more. Love it or hate it, Solana is making big waves in the crypto industry. Robinhood currently supports Solana buying, selling and deposits/withdrawals via the built in wallet.

    You can contribute to the Solana core tech team! They're constantly working on network level optimization. The founder actually used to work on distributed systems at Qualcomm before going on to build the consensus protocol and chain.

    Overall, I think we're going to see continued experimentation with interactive NFTs because that's what more engagement demands, and more engagement and utility is what we want. The problem is that most non-Flow blockchains need to solve some scalability issues before being viable for high-engagement interactive NFT experiences. Some projects like The Sandbox have started to migrate to layer 2 solutions like Polygon so they can meet the demands as users interact and do more with their NFTs. In general, blockchains are working to be faster and better. Solana focuses on speed, claiming to be the fastest blockchain in the world. Layer 2 solutions like Polygon aim to be a fast and cheap decentralized scaling platform for Ethereum. Ethereum itself will see a number of scalability upgrades come to fruition as a change of consensus mechanism coupled with a layer 2 scaling initiative helps reduce gas costs. The data storage needs for interactive NFT experiences on these chains might be provided by solutions like airweave and IPFS as on-chain data storage is quite expensive. I don't see why excited developers won't deliver a lot of interesting projects in this space.
