Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

How Web3 Decentralization Can Dismantle Big Tech Monopolies in 2024
For example, decentralized data storage projects like Filecoin, Arweave, and Sia posted 50-100% user growth, providing blockchain-powered alternatives to AWS, Google Cloud, and Dropbox for distributed app data security.

If I'm following correctly, I believe this is basically what Sia does, although not optimized to be used directly as a media server (or maybe it could?).

Can decentralized storage compete with traditional cloud? Analyzing the available decentralized storage options
For consumer storage, Sia, Storj, and Vult (on Züs) can be good options since they are architecturally lower cost because of the erasure code technology. But for enterprise storage, among the available platforms, there isn’t a direct competitor to AWS S3 except for Zus, and archive storage, Filecoin is the best alternative, and for consumer storage, Storj, Sia, and Züs offer better options for fast retrieval times.

Being poor and a datahoarder is a nightmare. Is there a more efficient way of saving things?
As long as your needs are not beyond a TB, you can always consider something that does not require an actual "login" or a national currency, such as using SIAcoin (https://sia.tech). The cost for a terabyte hosted in two places often will cost you under the equivalent of $6-8 per month. It takes getting used to, but since it is blockchain based, it might even be possible for you to mine the means of paying for your cloud storage if what you actually need hosted is low enough.

Cryptocurrencies II: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)
The real services, and counter to his points are Ethereum/DAI, aave.com, and gmx.io. All legitimate (non-confidence) services that I have used for years without issue. All services rely on smart contracts as counter parties so you don't need to worry about some dude running off with your money (that is tradfi problems that crypto is fixing)

DEFI Earn How does it work? How do some offer outrageous interest rates?
The Real Yield DeFi can divide into two types: 1. Fee - such as Borrowing Fee, Trading Fee, Transaction Fee or Insurance Fee (COMP, AAVE, FORW, GMX, ETH) 2. Reinvestment - such as reinvestment in the Real Yield from 1. or reinvestment in the physical products in the real world. (GFI)

Fe: next generation smart contract language for Ethereum
No, we didn't. There are tens of thousands of developers writing smart contracts. Some of these smart contracts, such as Uniswap (https://uniswap.org/), have traded more than $1.2 trillion in volume. Uniswap works 24/7 with 100% uptime. It's permissionless to create a liquidity pool or to trade on the platform. It's a novel architecture, called an Automated Market Maker, a real innovation in financial markets. Uniswap is fully auditable thanks to everything being on-chain. Source code is open. There's also on-chain lending markets (Aave: https://aave.com/), decentralized stable coins (https://www.liquity.org/), on-chain arbitration (https://kleros.io/), on-chain DAO governance (https://compound.finance/governance), on-chain social media primitives which are extensible (https://www.lens.xyz/), multi-sig on-chain smart contract wallets that custody hundreds of millions to billions in assets (https://gnosis-safe.io/), decentralized strategy games that use on-chain zero knowledge proofs to maintain a fog of war and player secrets while keeping everyone honest while allowing for full hackability (Dark Forest - https://zkga.me/), etc. Can really go on and on, but the industry is not going anywhere.

How to use Bitcoin to borrow on aave with ledger?
Hi I am new to defi so i am not to sure how to go about it. I am interested in using my bitcoin to borrow on aave. The problem is when i go to aave.com i dont see any ledger wallet option when i try to connect a wallet? Also how would i be able to use my bitcoin to borrow on aave? I read that you need to convert it to wbtc. How would you go about this process thanks.
Send your BTC to an exchange that has WBTC (like Binance). Sell/trade to get WBTC. Send the WBTC on the ETH network to your Ledger ETH address. You'll need to use Metamask to do any trading/borrowing on Aave. Connect your Ledger to Metamask using "connect hardware wallet" - do NOT put in your seed phrase into Ledger. Go to Aave and connect Metamask. All transactions will need to be signed by you on your Ledger using the Ethereum app. Make sure you only go to the Aave official site (aave.com). Experiment with a small amount first - this may not be so easy for beginners.

Is This the End of Crypto?
I get the point and I can understand how it can feel like that from the outside. But the same people that are saying that FTX is not crypto now, were saying it before and same applies to Coinbase, Kraken, Binance... Luna and Terra were crypto, though, economically unsound design with Ponzi economics but crypto. And the litmus test is actually super simple and foolproof. Does whatever you are doing settle a transaction in a public, tamper-resistant ledger that is cryptographically verifiable? FTX business and operations does not involve such a thing. It's a traditional corporation, established in the Bahamas, running some SQL/noSQL DB or perhaps more likely paper napkins as a system of record... And as such was vulnerable to the same kind of abuses that have plagued financial fraud forever.
Here is actual projects that are implemented in a blockchain:
- A exchange, e.g. Uniswap: https://uniswap.org/
Here is a smart contract that executes its transactions: https://etherscan.io/address/0x68b3465833fb72a70ecdf485e0e4c...
You can see the transactions live. You can see the code that runs this exchange: https://etherscan.io/address/0x68b3465833fb72a70ecdf485e0e4c...
- Lending and borrowing, e.g. Aave: https://aave.com/
- Decentralized staking, e.g. RocketPool: https://rocketpool.net
