Game Boy Competition 2023
This is a game jam where you make a Game Boy game in three months. If you don't know a lot of programming you can use GB Studio, you can learn the nitty gritty of how the Game Boy works by using assembly programming with RGBDS, or you can use C with GBDK or ZGB.

Errors Building Anniversary Red
Clone the specific version of rgbds we need (0.2.0 and 0.2.1 had segfaults on linking, but 0.2.2 seems to work just fine) git clone -b v0.2.2 https://github.com/gbdev/rgbds.git cd rgbds make cd ..

[pokecrystal] Issues when building custom rom with rgbds v0.4.2
I'm now picking this project again, and stuff moved a huge lot ! I picked up the latest version of rgbds (v0.4.2) and of course, my ROM didn't compile. I fixed all the issues that popped out, and it now compiles fine again. Unfortunately, it created new issues that I'm having issues to troubleshoot, hence my post which is a call for help, or just pointers to fix it up.

I made a CHIP-8 emulator that runs on the Nintendo Gameboy
Nice! I glanced over your source --- the fact that you wrote this in pure asm (and not with some GB dev game compiler like RGBDS) is great skill. Good work!

Original Pokemon RGBY export all audio and SFX as midi
I initially wanted to export all the original audio from the games rom as midi files. Fortunately my google-fu lead me to this a post on romhacking in 2014 where the PokeRed Poject rom audio has been disassembled to asm. Going through the list I noticed not all the audio is properly titled and some songs could be missing for example MtMoon and Cerulean city is missing.

Bi-Weekly Questions Thread
Install the pokered disassembly and follow this tutorial.
Gen 1 and 2 have been disassembled so this is something that is definitely possible even easy using those projects. Here is one of the projects, the pret discord link at the bottom is where you'll find more information about working with the projects.
you can find the assembly code of pokemon red here: https://github.com/pret/pokered

List of Creepypastas
I worked on a pokemon red rom hack for a few weeks based on labender town syndrome. I was able to inject a new pokemon at a scripted point but things got pretty weird, especially around battle logic. I quickly ran into trouble with inadvertently overwriting used memory. There really wasn't a lot of unused bits on that gameboy cart or the gameboy's resources. There's no safety net to prevent you (or even inform you) of something you shouldn't be doing.
This was in Z80 assembly and based off of the (very awesome) pokered project.

[Weekly Questions Thread] 11 July 2022
The first two generations were written on assembly. It's kinda different than other programming languages as it's more "machine" than others. As far as I know the source code for Pokemon Red Blue has been decompiled so you can see how it's written. Check https://github.com/pret/pokered for it.
