Restreamer
-
Selfhost Straming platform
You can use restreamer https://github.com/datarhei/restreamer
-
vMix linux alternative (that isn't OBS)
You should ideally be using a different machine for this to reduce network and possibly encode load, there are plenty of solutions for streaming to multiple endpoints you can self-host or put in the cloud. See for example: https://docs.datarhei.com/restreamer/

Looking for a program where I can livestream / share my screen in close to real time (like discord)
Depending on how you want to achieve this, you could use a combination of OBS + Restreamer or OBS + Project-Lightspeed. Another solution would be to use more specific solutions like neko

FastoCloud [COM] version currently available on GitHub
You could try posting an issue on ReStreamer's Github page and see if someone there has figured out how to make it work with Unifi-cam-proxy - https://github.com/datarhei/restreamer

Self hosted Livestream software suggestions?
I saw this on this sub a while ago.

GitHub - datarhei/restreamer: The Restreamer is a complete streaming server solution for self-hosting. It has a visually appealing user interface and no ongoing license costs. Upload your live stream to YouTube, Twitch or receive video data from OBS and publish it with the RTMP and SRT server.
This is on the [Feature Request List](https://github.com/datarhei/restreamer/discussions/345) but is not currently active.
-
GitHub - datarhei/core: 🟡 datarhei Core is management for FFmpeg processes without development effort. Whether your streaming has one viewer or a million, we have the tools to help you develop, deploy and manage any video project at any stage. Focus on your application, not your infrastructure.
Managing FFmpeg processes is a tremendous help when developing video applications. Although these processes break quickly, the core keeps them running. It is generally interesting for anything that works with FFmpeg and the requirement to capture, convert, broadcast (stream), filter, and package digital video and audio into various container formats. Here is an example of what has been built with the core: https://github.com/datarhei/restreamer

With the current version of the Restreamer a logo can be provided with a URL. The overlay function is currently not active. This extension has been requested several times and is on the list of feature requests. https://github.com/datarhei/restreamer/discussions/345

Is there a way (plugin or something?) to output the gcode viewer to an rtsp stream?
If you want to stream your webcam as an H264 encoded rtsp stream, it can be done with either rtsp-simple-server or V4l2rtspserver And it is possible to stream a linux desktop (and any program that might be open, like your web browser with the gcode viewer running on it) with the V4l2Loopback device and either of the two prgrams above. It is quite an involved process, but it is do-able.

RTMP with nginx and OBS on Ubuntu
I had a nightmare setting this up for my streams. I ended up going with rtsp-simple-server as it seems to work a little quicker and is much better documented. There is an option to toggle between always having a stream "live" or stop when there are no viewers

'A fluke': The oldest webcam is still watching over San Francisco
I've used an rtsp sever [1] along with hls.js [2] so that I can have it in a nicer webpage and then stuck it all behind a vpn (wireguard).

I've been using https://github.com/aler9/rtsp-simple-server and wonder how this compares to that.
