The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.

LaTeX on subreddit
There are several common TeX broswer extensions, plugins or userscripts which extract and replace text that look like a LaTeX math environment. I personally use the MathJax for Reddit userscript from the /r/math sidebar with tampermonkey for firefox. This user script injects MathJax, which translates TeX to native MathML, a math typesetting language for HTML5 which is then rendered natively by the browser. It replaces expressions like so:

Update: /u/amdpox created a repository. So, the technical aspect of the problem is solved. The link in /r/math is also updated — this is the largest user base. This is going well!
