📜 I made JSON.parse() 2x faster: Radek proposes to improve the performance of Hermes by using very fast C++ libs based on SIMD instructions. Interesting to read even if you don't use React-Native. Ongoing discussions on the Hermes PR.

Don't pay for painfully slow React Native iOS builds anymore.
💉 Building and injecting a JS bundle a basic concept: If the native code wasn’t changed, simply create JS bundle and inject it into the precompiled application. (You must take an extra step to convert a js file to bytecode if you use the Hermes js engine.)

Sciter – Multiplatform HTML/CSS/JavaScript UI Engine for Applications
It's "Quick" in the sense that it's a bytecode interpreter instead of a JIT, so much faster startup/reload times (although overall compute performance is much slower). And the library is much smaller than more heavyweight engines like V8, so good for reducing overall app size.
Actually, recently Facebook had to implement a whole new non-JIT Javascript engine just for the purpose of optimizing startup times for React Native apps (https://github.com/facebook/hermes). If you consider how even Facebook had to ditch the V8 JIT for their purpose it's totally understandable why Sciter chose QuickJS as their new Javascript engine.

Exploring React Native’s new architecture
Furthermore, the new architecture decouples the JavaScript interface from the engine, enabling the use of other JavaScript engines such as Hermes, V8, or Chakra.

hardened_malloc and/or other of our Android hardening has uncovered a bug in a C library used by Outlook called hermes for JavaScript. It's currently being looked into as we know people need Outlook. We might be able to disable some optional hardening for Outlook that causes this. Ultimately this bug is something that needs to be reported to upstream once we figure it out.
