The pi shelf is filling up. Got the pi zero running pi hole. The pi 3 is running docker with some apps. Pi 4 is my Plex and storage server with a 2 TB hdd. And the old pi b is going to be a Spotify device.

Is there any benefit to a Streaming component if I already have a good DAC and I’m comfortable using a computer as a streaming source?
1 project | reddit.com/r/audiophile | 15 Dec 2021
You're not going to beat the laptop on quality, but for the same quality you could beat it on size and power, if you wanted. A Raspberry Pi running https://github.com/dtcooper/raspotify will be equally controllable from your phones, and quite compact.
Spotify Connect on my old HiFi

I use a raspberry pi 4 with raspotify connected to a usb dac, it works super well! The config file lets you set the device name, type, and music bitrate.
Raspberry pi WiFi streaming to HiFi system

I don't have any control or library software built into my setup. I'm only running https://github.com/dtcooper/raspotify for Spotify Connect and https://github.com/mikebrady/shairport-sync for AirPlay streaming, so I have no need to interact directly with the Pi during normal usage. It's all controlled from my phone or PC natively.
Headless music player - using Spotify?
1 project | reddit.com/r/raspberry_pi | 15 Nov 2021
https://github.com/dtcooper/raspotify Use raspotify on the PI directly, it turns it into a Spotify Connect target. I use that on my PI that runs alot of other crap that is headless. For the amplifier I'd rather get a cheap auto head-unit that has an Aux-in, as those are made to run on 12V directly and are, well, cheap.

Install Spotify on the Ubuntu machine, or use Spotify via the browser, or use something like spotifyd/raspotify.

Amazon devices will soon automatically share your Internet with neighbors

If you just purely want Spotify and you don't mind a bit of manual setup, you can buy some Raspberry Pis and install raspotify on them. They'll just show up in the Spotify app like any other Spotify connect device. The only requirement to use this is that the person playing music needs to have a premium account. Also it can only do one speaker at a time.

There is already fullscreen unredirection implementation in kwin-lowlatency but it doesn't work good with multi-monitor and the dev isn't planning to upstream it soon afaik
No clue which door, answers this Linux question?

Maybe attach a bounty offer to a specific feature request in the bug-tracking database, as these guys did: https://github.com/tildearrow/kwin-lowlatency/issues/56 ?
Do I even need kwin-lowlatency any more ?
2 projects | reddit.com/r/kde | 22 Aug 2021
On the github page, the author said that kwin-lowlatency is not dead because of full-screen unredirection capabilities with eliminating stuttering without force composition pipeline (force composition pipeline increase latency and reduce performance I believe).
What's the one big thing(s) missing in Linux gaming besides EAC?

This didn't go away when disabling full screen unredirection. https://github.com/tildearrow/kwin-lowlatency/issues/95
Is it just me, or does the Linux **desktop** experience kind of feel lacklustre?

Piggybacking here: Recent Kwin versions had lots of changes internally. If you're already on newest version, try Kwin-lowlatency or KwinFT.
How to reduce Input Lag?

You can read up on some stuff here regarding KDE: https://github.com/tildearrow/kwin-lowlatency
Why is the compositor disabled if a fullscreen game is minimized?
1 project | reddit.com/r/kde | 9 Feb 2021
It used to be there as a feature: fullscreen unredirect. But due to some bugs the kwin team removed it. Last time I checked, https://github.com/tildearrow/kwin-lowlatency supported unredirection and also ran much smoother on high refresh rates.
Even though I have an RTX 2070. Why does KDE always lags on my PC.
1 project | reddit.com/r/kde | 8 Feb 2021
There are a few known issues with the compositor and kwin. You might try kwin-low-latency. It does help. Another issue is having multiple monitors with X. It will always sync to the one with the lowest refresh rate.
