Short Ruby News - Edition #35
Hey, I totally agree with you. Linking to the entire newsletter can be quite overwhelming and comes off as spammy. It would be great if you included the specific links to the tweet or the GitHub repo mentioned in the newsletter. The links you provided, https://twitter.com/joemasilotti/status/1639261944652914688 and https://github.com/joemasilotti/railsdevs.com/which, are definitely more helpful and provide a better user experience. Thanks for sharing!

Opensource Rails Project
I recommend Joe Masilotti's project: RailsDevs. Very well-written and follows most of the Rails best practices. It also uses the Rails recommended front-end stack with Hotwire, Tailwind, etc.

My open source Rails app generated $175k in revenue last year. AMA!
In the last 12 months my open source product RailsDevs has generated $175k.
Thank you! The app is RailsDevs, a reverse job board for Ruby on Rails developers.
The codebase is entirely open source along with public metrics and revenue/expenses.

I fell in love with Ruby but...
I found most job postings in the Ruby on Rails Link community and on Rails Devs, but there were a few other useful places to look, which I listed in this blog post that I wrote about my job hunt.

How to find your first Rails job
Polish your GitHub portfolio. Here's mine: github.com/fpsvogel. Make sure each of your pinned projects has a nice README including a summary of why it's on portfolio. If you want to spend even more time perfecting your READMEs, here's an awesome README list to give you ideas, and here are a few that are built specifically as part of a learner's portfolio of Rails apps: lortza/tarot, lortza/sorrygirl, lortza/therapy_tracker.
What are some alternatives?
