Replacement for QTTabBar?
I've been using QTTabBar for last 3 years and I had zero issues, my wallpaper changes every 10min. I've been using this version but there is also another one with source code available on github.

Using Windows after 15 years on Linux
I've been able to set up and practice on virtual kubernetes cluster using KinD[2] (Kubernetes in Docker) thanks to the seamless integration of Docker for Windows into the WSL subsystem. VSCode can tap into Linux VMs with pretty much no delays too. Shutting down the whole thing to free up resources takes one line in Powershell and happens within a few seconds. The terminal app despite having a bit of a clunky UI is highly configurable and just works, etc.
There are things that scare me about Windows though, for example the mandatory real-time "defender" file scanning that you have to disable either manually at every boot or disable entirely through registry thus losing the virus scanning functionality. The amount of clunky Cortana stuff that really took a while to remove. The store app that feels flimsy, the games dependency on Xbox apps and subsystems which can lead to annoying bugs, and certain UI delays that make the system sometimes feel not so fast compared to the tricks Macs can pull to make you feel at ease. Consequently I'm not very likely to touch Windows 11 as Microsoft is seemingly trying to enforce more things in configurations and UI.

A QTTabBar Dark Mode Skin (made by me)
Works with indiff/qttabbar: Qttabbar is a small tool that allows you to use tab multi label function in Windows Explorer. (github.com)

I wanted to love the Files app that was posted here a while ago, but this is unacceptable...
https://github.com/indiff/qttabbar fork is more active and opened than quizo(the original one, but slow update)

Useful free windows software
Qttabar is a file management extension to windows explorer. It allows for tabs and allows the user to view pictures, videos and audio by hovering over the file, without needing to open them or squint at the thumbnail.

Alternative file explorer for Windows
If that doesn't work for you I found a program, it more of an add-on in my opinion to explore. I would say to check out QTTabbar: https://github.com/in my opinion it gives explore more feature that explorer should have in the first place. And if you want the full version of that then check out this:

Together with BleachBit and Geek Uninstaller are the go-to tools in my upkeep routine. You don't need those but just mentioning them.

Just moved from POP3 to IMAP, but IMAP is very laggy and slow? Possible fix?
I don't know 'all of the underlying technology' but as a little 'maintenance exercise' under the top line file there is an option, "Compact Folders" - you can do them individually but I do it first I clean out my 'trash', then I compact. Although I am on Linux and there is no 'defrag', it probably would not help to compact them. Also, FYI, https://www.bleachbit.org/ program for Windows, Linux, etc. has an option to VACUUM (essentially to tighten up the SQLITE files - databases, I think.) If you are doing Thunderbird I would not let it do anything but the vacuum option (note Thunderbird uses an Mbox file system) but I think the option is still called vacuum in Bleachbit for simplicity sake) until you knew what it was doing, but Firefox also uses SQLITE files and you can vacuum those - for that program I let it wipe everything and just select every box depending if I am running as root-superuser-admin or not.) If you just converted from one .... perhaps everything is spread across your drive. NOTE: if your drive is a SSD you are NOT supposed to have to, nor is it suggested that you defrag (or do similar actions) to your drive to preserve the life of the SSD. In which case you might want to understand the difference between 'compact' and defrag. Please do appropriate research on all issues.
