Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

A Tale of Two Kitchens - Hypermodernizing Your Python Code Base
pyupgrade and flynt are examples of tools that modify your code base from earlier python versions into the newest python syntax, rewriting all string formats into f-strings and similar things.

Which is your favourite or go-to YouTube channel for being up-to-date on Python?
He made yesqa and pyupgrade (among others), and also works on flake8. His main job is for https://sentry.io/.
-
Is there a way to convert python 2 to 3 without finding every single line and fix it?
There is also pyupgrade: https://github.com/asottile/pyupgrade
-
Flake8 took down the gitlab repository in favor of github
and last a little plug or two -- because I do this all for free and despite millions benefiting I receive zero proportional benefit from the maintenance work I put in -- consider sponsoring or maybe check out pre-commit.ci which would have automatically fixed this problem for you a year and a half ago

Django upgrade services?
Running https://github.com/adamchainz/django-upgrade with https://github.com/asottile/pyupgrade recursively will give an idea about how much work is there on Django side. Still, there may have dependency on third party libraries (both django+python). Another thing to consider is which role Django performing here, serving APIs or html views. As good test coverage is already there, you are on lucky side.

Is there a linter which would suggest using elif rather than an else in an if clause?
I do would like to recommend pyupgrade. Just pip install as expected and then run pyupgrade --py310-plus to drag your code kicking and screaming into $CURRENT_YEAR. Or at least into whatever version you're using :)
-
10% of the 666 most popular Python GitHub repos have f-string bugs (so 68 pull requests were made in 24 hours to fix them all)
You could try to run pyupgrade inside your repo to see what you could change to update your code to more modern Python.
-
pathlib instead of os. f-strings instead of .format. Are there other recent versions of older Python libraries we should consider?
Also pyupgrade to generally upgrade your code to whatever python version pyupgrade supports :)
There’s a good tool called pyupgrade that takes care of a lot of the syntax upgrades, not sure if it does library usage upgrades though

Enhance Your Project Quality with These Top Python Libraries
Bandit is a tool designed to find common security issues in Python code. It was developed by the OpenStack Security Project and is a great addition to any serious Python project.

Creating a DevSecOps pipeline with Jenkins — Part 1
For the SAST stage, I used SonarQube tool. SonarQube is an open-source platform developed by SonarSource for continuous inspection of code quality to perform automatic reviews with static analysis of code to detect bugs and code smells on more than 30 programming languages. I preferred SonarQube instead of other SAST tools because it has a detailed documentation and plugins about integration with Jenkins and SonarQube works with Java projects pretty well. Of course you can similar multi-language-supported tools such as Semgrep or language-specific tools such as Bandit.

On the other hand, Bandit is a dedicated security scanner designed to target critical security concerns such as SQL injection and cross-site scripting exploits. It meticulously scrutinizes the codebase to identify and alert developers about possible security breaches or vulnerabilities, thus fortifying the code against potential exploitation.

I think the CTX package on PyPI has been hacked!
If the risk is higher than normal, they could run a static code analysis tool like bandit, that includes checks for bad practices. While I think you should be able to code whatever/however you want to, it could lower your score if you looped through all env-variables. Maybe. Then display that indicator on pypi.
