Does it say you're not eligible in your https://creators.brave.com dashboard, or did you just receive an email? The email seems to have gone out to a broader set of creators than intended, so if it doesn't apply to you (and you don't see any notice in your Creators dashboard), then kindly disregard that email :).
    3 projects | /r/brave_browser | 27 Oct 2022
It's important that you check your dashboard at creators.brave.com. Does it contain a notice/message saying that you are not verified due to being in an unsupported region? If not, then you should be good to go. You can disregard the email for now!

Thank ... yes I got an e-mail from Brave today saying exactly the same. Probably the e-mail was sent to too many people ... wow ... thanks for wasting my valuable time. I've been panicking and been trying to do everything for many hours to 'fix' something which was not broken. And now because of this my connection to "Uphold" is lost and can't be restored because creators.brave.com says that my Uphold account is already connected to another creators.brave.com account, but it's NOT ... I'm pretty upset now ...

I see you as verified, but presumably your creators.brave.com account is attached to Uphold (or not attached to Uphold or Gemini yet)? If I'm verified with Gemini as a browser user and you're verified with Uphold (or have neither Uphold or Gemini), I won't be able to tip you, so I'll see that message.

We're actively working on allowing you to attach Gemini and Uphold at the same time to your Creators account, so that you can accept tips from everybody. https://github.com/brave-intl/publishers/issues/3363

minimum practical transaction size and cutting off the possibility for small casual transactions"

And more recently Brave, the browser tried to implement it.

"Crypto and DeFi are hard to use and the $330 billion digital advertising industry is failing users, publishers and advertisers. With Basic Attention Token and Brave we want to take Crypto to the next 1B users and solve the endemic inefficiencies and privacy violations hobbling the digital ad industry."[^2]

I personally think this is a beautiful idea, had it worked out as envisioned, the Internet could've been a very different and likely better place now. Pity cryptocurrencies came to be what they're in their present condition.

As for content.. if you look at VRChat, you'll see that a lot of good content is created by the user base. Money could also be raised by buyers trying to profit off the coin. Many profit models to explore. For example Brave browser found a good way of integrating crypto with their BAT token.

https://basicattentiontoken.org/ you can check out the whitepaper on their website, it runs on the Ethereum network. I for one think these kind of tokens pose a very good use case in the crypto space. We all gain by making advertising decentralized because that means out data also isn't getting collected by a single behemoth off a company but rather spread out across a network for individual advertisers to use.

    Probably because of https://basicattentiontoken.org/

For a group that's largely bet their fortunes on internet companies, it's kind of funny that anything crypto is so toxic here, but that's probably the reason.

The actual browser is under good technical stewardship from what I know. It's essentially not-evil Chrome with an optional crypto-for-ads monetization model, a crypto wallet, and some primitive default privacy and adblocking tools.

It suffers from the same technical deficiencies as Chrome (installing addons is harder than it should be, addon API is weak compared to firefox, Google controls the "store" for extensions), but I'd recommend it over any other Chromium-based browser.

  • The web is in need of some reinvention

The problems with the modern web are hardly technical. We have the technology to make it better.

There is a single major problem: advertising. It is the default monetization path for most of the web, and it has become an unstoppable force of sites that are hostile to the user, siphon as much user data as possible, and use every marketing tactic available to trick the user into clicking on ads or agreeing to being tracked.

It has spawned a multi-billion dollar market of shady data brokers that sell user data to the highest bidder, and built an industry of adtech giants.

It has required passing laws to protect the user, and even those were late, not strict enough, impossible to enforce, and only available in small regions of the world.

It is pervasive and offensive, and this has to change. Progress is very slow on this front, but we need new monetization options that are as easy to use for both the user and content creator, and respect the user and their privacy rights.

Say what you want about Brave Inc., the BAT[1] is the most compelling of such alternatives. It currently uses user-friendly ads, but those can be bypassed by funding the wallet instead.

I'm curious about other alternatives to advertising, not about another web framework.
