A better approach would be to build a modern web-based app that looks good if you're on a phone, tablet, or computer. In our household of six, we have both Android and iOS devices; I built some home automation systems and did exactly this using Bottle as the web framework and Bootstrap as the CSS that does a great job of adapting between platforms. It might not work for very sophisticated apps or UIs, but for something relatively straightforward it's fine.

I default to Bootstrap. Bootstrap has served me well through years of usage. It's a mature library, allows customization, takes accessibility into account, and has corresponding component libraries like react-bootstrap.

But there are libraries out there that do a lot of the heavy CSS lifting for you. Bootstrap is one example. It's a collection of CSS classes that are already pre written. So if you want a navigation bar that is black, it's as simple as specifying the classes "navbar navbar-dark bg-dark". Even if you use bootstrap, you still need to know some CSS because Bootstrap doesn't do all of the work for you and if you want something that Bootstrap doesn't offer, you have to style it yourself.

JavaScript - more specifically React, Angular, Next.js or another option. All those OSes have a web browser, you have massive scalability, huge community, many UI options via HTML and CSS frameworks (like Bootstrap). You can use TypeScript if you want JavaScript with a type system - though it’s still only syntactic sugar.
  • Navbar collapse menu not responding (Bootstrap 5.1.3)

Hey all, I'm currently taking a Udemy course and have exhausted myself trying to figure out why the collapse menu won't respond. I tried to use the separate JS lines on as well as the bundle and no luck with either method. I've tried placing the tag at the end right before the tag and still having no luck with it. Was wondering if any of you could help me figure it out?
