Nextcloud performance improvement
Next thing would be to install the "preview generator" app, as it will generate the preview images in the background and when you scroll through your photos it will use the smaller preivew images. https://apps.nextcloud.com/apps/previewgenerator

Self-Hosted "Cloud" suggestion
To make it a better, you could run the app Preview generator: it will generate a thumbnail at the size you want (e.g. 300x300) for each photo. At least, the thumbnails would show quickly. It can take some time and CPU, so preferably run it at night.

Why this is happening in Photos app? After certain point, no images, just blank scrolling down?
You could also use the preview generator app to pre-generate your thumbnails (https://apps.nextcloud.com/apps/previewgenerator). I have mine on a cron job running every 5 mins.

Les Pas sharing/publishing function broken on Nextcloud 22
If you use Les Pas's album publishing feature to share your works, it's currently broken on Nextcloud 22. I have log an issue to ShareListing, waiting for a fix from them.

One day several weeks ago, When I was poking among Nextcloud's github repos as usual, hoping to find some undocumented treasure, I stumbled upon this marvelous repo, ShareListing. It's an Nextcloud server app allows generating report of shares on the system by providing several occ cmdline tools. However, it also exposes OCS APIs to do the same things in code, which are exactly what I have been looking for. Together with some other not so well documented APIs, like generating and downloading preview files and several weeks of hard work, I present you LesPas 2.0, photo management and sharing for Nextcloud on Android platform.
