System76 vs Star Labs vs Framework
If in the USA then System76 could be a good contender, they don't make the hardware just use Clevo hardware, however I've had so many issues with the Lemur Pro and support has been terrible, after significant shipping costs to fix a common freezing issue they sent it back with a broken trackpad, missing screws and the same issue persisting (https://github.com/pop-os/linux/issues/45 & https://github.com/pop-os/pop/issues/1172) tbh they (System76) really don't like any critizism and popOS has been really flaky between updates, they also tend to be bad actors in the community with little upstreaming and a sense of superiority (https://www.theregister.com/2021/11/10/system76_gnome_desktop_fight/) - My machine (lemp9) is basically just sat in a cupboard gathering dust.

Anyone that uses System76 Pangolin 12?
The problem is it says the audio is working out of the box, but it isn't. I've talked to the support and I was shown this: https://github.com/pop-os/linux/pull/205

Are Linux 6.2 and Mesa 23.1 being planned soon?
Linux 6.2: https://github.com/pop-os/linux/pull/228 Not Mesa 23.1 but Mesa 22.3.5: https://github.com/pop-os/linux/pull/228 (Merged)

Will Linux Mint ever become immutable os.
Add timeshift-autosnap-apt so that it generates a snapshot at the beginning of every update: https://github.com/wmutschl/timeshift-autosnap-apt

A great "How-To" for setting up Timeshift and grub-btrfs on Ubuntu 22.04LTS w/Timeshif's Auto-Snapshot for every APT-GET you do
grub-btrfs - Improves grub by adding "btrfs snapshots" to the grub menu. You can boot your system on a "snapshot" from the grub menu. Supports manual snapshots, snapper, TimeShift ... timeshift-autosnap-apt - * Timeshift auto-snapshot script which runs before any apt/apt-get update|install|remove using a DPkg::Pre-Invoke hook in APT.

Backup question
Timeshift with timeshift-autosnap-apt.
-
Time machine feature question
hint: you can configure timeshift to run before each apt command via timeshift-autosnap (I still have to set it up and test it)
-
Do I have to continue making backups when using timeshift?
I recommend you include timeshift-autosnap-apt and boot time snapshots and increase the number of each to something useful like +30.
-
BTRFS snapshots?
I use https://github.com/wmutschl/timeshift-autosnap-apt for automatic snapshots for apt commands.
- Shoutout to Timeshift developers: I love your application!
