Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Exploring Podman: A More Secure Docker Alternative
Source code for the feature is here if you care to inspect it:
https://github.com/containers/podman-compose/blob/bce40c2db3...
Admittedly, I'm still on podman 4.3.1, but I dont' see any reason why this would stop working in later versions of podman.

Podman Desktop v1.5 with Compose onboarding and enhanced Kubernetes pod data
Can someone link me to what Compose means in this context? Google takes me to https://github.com/containers/podman-compose but I just wanna make sure that's what they are talking about.

Containers Demystified 🐳🤔
🛑 Docker Desktop is free for personal use but requires a paid subscription for enterprises. A free open source alternative is Podman and Podman Compose which uses the same core syntax as the Docker tools and can be used as a near drop-in replacement.

Serious Question: why use Docker Desktop? (from a Linux user)
Single-click k8s install. Extensions. Init. And there are people who just prefer an app-based experience for their own reasons - I think it was the most "upvoted" request ever on their public roadmap.

Docker's deleting Open Source images and here's what you need to know
https://github.com/docker/roadmap/issues/44
So, at the moment, any public organization images are doomed to be lost, if they won't pay.

[Feedback requested] Thoughts on a `docker init` feature?
I'm Prashant, a designer working at Docker. We are exploring a feature for the Docker CLI that helps create all docker related files in a project folder. I just opened an issue in our public roadmap. What is this group's opinion about this feature? Is there anything else you'd like the team to focus on instead?
- Why a few of Famous/Big Programs written in csharp?
- Is it possible to get fast Rust compiles in a Docker container?

Docker volumes on MacOS are slow and how to fix it
This thread: https://github.com/docker/roadmap/issues/7 contains a lot of useful information about the current state of the art.

macOS Ventura is now available
One big feature for me is much improved Virtualization framework. I'm eager for https://github.com/docker/roadmap/issues/384 to be closed. Must solve some QoL issues for me.

Docker – October 2022 Pricing Change FAQ
It still exists but there is zero development on it. They left it in a kind of half finished state imho with some pretty annoying gaps in the workflow around updating configs/secrets, one time tasks, etc. There's zero future or updates in its roadmap: https://github.com/docker/roadmap/issues/175

WTF is up with Docker desktop on macOS?
Quite solid in my Late 2012 Mini. My only issue with Docker on Mac is this 6 year old problem https://github.com/docker/roadmap/issues/157. I tried all other alternatives podman, colima etc. with similar results for some reason. (I kinda was lazy to understand the bunch of security concepts like SE Linux labels etc., so partly gave up putting more effort to learn). Only thing that resolved was vctl (VMWare's) but that thing is absolute bare bones compared to any of the others.
What are some alternatives?

multipass - Multipass orchestrates virtual Ubuntu instances
slirp4netns - User-mode networking for unprivileged network namespaces
