Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

- Time for DesantisJetTracker?

Michelle Mone bought a £7.5m private jet (reg M-KNOX) after she got a £65m PPE contract. Anyone tech savvy enough to run MoneJetTracker?
Jack Sweeny, the guy behind Musk's Jet tracking twitter account open sourced the software used to pull the open data on GitHub.

We need an open source tracker
Oh you’re the one in the group project that talks a lot while others do the work, the stuff is already on GitHub, https://github.com/Jxck-S/plane-notify
- Elon Musk just popped into a Twitter Spaces chat with a bunch of journalists. He was called out by journalist Drew Harrell, who he banned, for lying about posting links to his private information, then leaves almost immediately after being pressed. Here is the exchange
- Can we create our own Twitter bots yet?
- ElonJet's source code

Sweeney was posting public information
https://github.com/Jxck-S/plane-notify feel free to review his source code for the @ElonJet Twitter bot. Definitely public sources for information.

Jack Sweeney of Elonjet Responds
Ignoring the safety concern on one side, and the emission of greenhouse gases on the other, the way this works is interesting and surprisingly straightforward! https://github.com/Jxck-S/plane-notify/blob/multi/PseudoCode...
If I understand correctly, the plane broadcasts ACARS data which include the registration number, and ADS-B data which includes the 24-bit ICAO address, which hobbyists both record and share in an API that can be queried. Then the code computes departures and arrivals from the distance to the nearest airport at low altitude.
The jet likely changed its ICAO address through PIA, but the set of possible ICAO addresses that could be the right one after it switched ICAO address is small, because PIA privacy protection has an assigned range of registration numbers and ICAO addresses. Among those, there was only one that matched the departure/arrival pattern of the pre-PIA, known ICAO address associated with the target jet.

Elon Musk's poll doesn't go as planned so he redoes it and it goes even worse. When will they learn vote recounts don't go in their favor?
Also you can write (or have Chat-GPT write) a script using the public GitHUb repository Jxck-S created to fetch the data from ADS-B Exchange and then have it output the string as a .txt file that a Tweet automation program similar to langphil's Twitter bot (that Tweets lines from a .txt file) could use...

Remembering what flying was like fifty years ago
I’m just here to plug my buddy John’s homebuilt/exerimentatal/open-source HUD, primarily intended for VFR use as an ADS-B traffic display.

US or EU - which version is best for Canadians?
I am currently using a modified StratuxHUD version (https://github.com/JohnMarzulli/StratuxHud - a fork from US thread) on my Stratux with both 1090 and UAT SDRs, Antennas, GPYes 2.0 GPS receiver and AHRS module. Currently I see very few GA traffic unless I am close to the US border. There is a lot of FLARM and OGN traffic in my area that doesn't show up in my version of Stratux. It is important to note that I do not have any ADSB-Out device for ground (US) or sattelite (Canada) communication. Under CIFIB (https://cifib.ca/) initiative there are some nearby towers that broadcasts weather over the 978 and depending on my location I occasionally receive those data.
