pitwall VS race-control-tv

I made a few toy projects in Rust, such as interacting with the F1 2022 game taking its UDP packets and parsing that information into a terminal application. I called that Pitwall, as it's mean to look a lot like what the team get on the F1 pitwall. But I have most recently been working on more serious projects. My company makes dispatching software for Fire / Police / EMS, and I rebuilt our Dispatching Damon in Rust. It has some pretty nice things such as WebPush and WebSockets right in the dispatching Daemon that makes it way easier to do things for notifications and also sending unit activity information back to the main CAD system.

For me the official app works quite well when sideloaded but if you can't get it working I recommend this third party app https://github.com/leonardoxh/race-control-tv

I have both the official F1TV App and https://github.com/leonardoxh/race-control-tv on a FireTV Stick "Lite" and a "Google Chromecast with Google TV". I probably sideloaded both of them (via adb). Haven't used them since last season, but they were working back then.

This started happening on Android when they enabled DRM on the streams. Assuming you use a device with Android 12 or later, you can just use Race Control TV to fix the issue. With Android 11 or earlier, Race Control TV also stutters due to this issue, which can be fixed by a custom build of the the app and force-enabling the fix mentioned in the issue.

Other apps, such as https://github.com/NoahFetz/F1AppleTV, or https://github.com/leonardoxh/race-control-tv, have both been able to add DRM support with relatively minimal effort, since this was offered out-of-the-box on those platforms.
