The app didn't wait for Firebase to initialize in the first page to render the rest of the app (Firebase is not used until after a photo has been taken anyways, and this saved ~500ms off the initial paint)

VRouter 1.1
In any case, the Flutter team is conducting a research study to compare the different navigation packages (https://github.com/flutter/uxr). Currently VRouter has been chosen to run the first tests but they should be conducted of every package thereafter, so you might want to look there if you want updates!
Navigating with the url is already declarative in a way. Please read this thread if you want to know more about why I think declarative as implemented in Navigator 2.0 is a bad idea. You will also find some people who disagree which is always nice :)
