Pdftool.org: modify pdfs offline in the browser
On Linux I like to use:
https://github.com/pdfarranger/pdfarranger and https://gitlab.com/scarpetta/pdfmixtool for such tasks.

Wechsel von Windows auf Linux - zu viele Programme Windows-only?

A note of appreciation for paperless ngx
I see some questions in the comments about document splitting and if you are using PDF for the export in scanning, this adds an extra step but may be valuable in the long run. For Linux users at least, there is "pdfarranger" which most distros have. You can install that, load the PDF and re-arrange pages, remove pages, etc.

What's a really niche tool you use that you can't live without?
So, I guess, pdfarranger might be faster than PDFSam. https://github.com/pdfarranger/pdfarranger

PDF Arranger KDE Alternative?
I have always only been using PDF Arranger for manipulating PDF files (merging different files, arranging, adding, deleting pages) and I'm wondering if there really is no KDE equivalent for that application.
- Can anyone recommend a free PDF splitter?

If you don’t want Apple, or you want to upgrade, check out Frameworks. [1]
Really satisfying combination of quality and value for high performance laptops.

Framework's first desktop is a strange–but unique–mini ITX gaming PC
you're right but loading the front page at http://frame.work shouldn't incur the "build your own" hit.
e-commerce is hard. that's why we get paid so well. finding a smart teenager that you're uncle knows to setup some bullshit for $15/hr vs hiring a senior SRE at $100+/hr, when it directly leads to lost sales is a choice.

Ask HN: Recommendations for a Linux Distro and Laptop?
Assuming you're in the US, System76[0] and Framework[1] both make laptops that support Linux as a first-class OS.
I tried both and ended up preferring Framework. I especially like that they're repairable.
I bought the DIY version of Framework worried I'd hate building it, but it was super easy to put together. You're only putting together a few pieces, not the entire laptop. It ended up being one of the best unboxing experiences of my life.

I will never need to buy a new computer again
I agree with you about no need. However, speed increases for some goals such as tensors can be massive with more RAM, a faster CPU, and better GPU.
Do you know about the Framework laptop? https://frame.work/
The laptop lets you swap in and out parts as you wish, such as more RAM, different ports, a CPU upgrade, a GPU extension, and even a screen upgrade.

How and Why I Stopped Buying New Laptops
Have you considered a Framework laptop? They have 13-inch and 16-inch models and are designed to be upgraded.

well... thinkpads are awesome
Another brand named Framework are actually doing great progress towards a greener future with their although slightly costly yet perfectly modern, medium to high-end laptops that have iFixit score of literal 10/10, almost as if these new frameworks are advancing and carrying forward the original ThinkPad legacy.

Ask HN: What are your favorite DIY kits?
I bought a Framework 13 DIY Edition [1] a few years ago have been using that as my main personal laptop since then. Recently, I had to make some repairs due to an accident and it's awesome that all the parts are available still.
I also loved building my Prusa printer. That took much longer to build (like probably 5 hours for me). But it was really cool to learn all the parts and feel really comfortable with how it works.
