It is part of a much bigger ecosystem called Particl. It relies on its own blockchain, which is very similar to Monero's. The main feature of this project is the decentralized, anonymous marketplace, but more dApps are about to come.

emphasis on 'sometimes'... We lost the war on social media and many other facets of digital technology, but we haven't lost it yet with crypto.. not yet. I have hope that some projects like particl.io take off, but it's going to take a lot of talking and understanding. I don't want to just hand big old money people this financial revolution, that would really cause me to lose hope

particl.io is good but stupid, not so many shops available there. Also there is no lightweight particl market browser, so you have to download thir full software, sync with blockchain and then buy particl token and go to purchase :)

Also if you are searching for an anonymous and fully decentralized market you could take a look at Particl. This marketplace is based on a heavily enhanced bitcoin blockchain which implements all anonymity features of monero and other privacy cryptos. Its definitely worth a look!

Yeah could be, it just don't have any information on how many people visit the site/day, if this translates into particl.io or exchange purchases...

A collab between these guys and particl.io would be great. Particl as a private market, SCRT for smart contracts.

Hi, I'm new to this crypto mining in general. I came across a youtube video that involves mining with a raspberry pi. I KNOW this is not profitable, but I wanted to do this as a hobby. However, I was left wondering, if I were to use the getmonero.org as my wallet, how I can trade xmr for cad? I've seen other reddit threads saying to convert to btc, then into cad using kraken, or using localmonero. But again, I am new to this, so any information on converting xmr into cad is much appreciated!

Subdomains are typically different servers with their own purpose for the same domain. As long as you are on getmonero.org you are on the same domain.

There's no documentation for this. It's a file checkpoints.dat in https://github.com/monero-project/monero/tree/master/src/blocks and it's updated before each release and then embedded into monerod binary.
