Tracking Global Vaccination Rates with Docker, Python, and IoT
One of my favorite organizations is Our World in Data (OWID). They work with thousands of researchers to make research and data accessible to the public. In particular, I've been closely watching their repo that tracks COVID vaccination rates. As numerous worldwide agencies update their vaccination rate metrics, OWID consolidates that data into a single JSON file.

In warning to U.S., COVID rates soar after Denmark lifts all restrictions
According to Ourworldindata about 30% of Danish tests are positive, and 12% of tests in the US are positive. The US is seeing quite a sharp decrease in both confirmed cases and positive tests currently. While Denmark still seems to be on the rise.

hmmm...
Hey now, the US does things a little differently. The flu usually kills somewhere between 20 and 50 thousand people per year (at least before the pandemic). Just because Covid killed more than 60,000 people by February this year (taken from here with a little math) doesn't mean it's any more serious than your average flu.

What the hell is happening in the US?
I did dude. Google US covid. It references the NYT which posts their data here https://github.com/nytimes/covid-19-data. On the chart provided, switch between hospitalizations and case numbers, or deaths and case numbers. Compare the ratios of deaths/cases or hospitalizations/cases.

This sewage report is about a whole population and it is clear to see infections many more times higher than what a lot of news agencies are reporting.
