Where can I find up-to-date info on the bike trail closures?
Hey folks, this isn't entirely unrelated, but check out cyclOSM.org, which maps all types of bike trails. If you're GIS-inclined, experienced, or interested, consider getting involved with openstreetmap.org, which is where cyclOSM pulls its data from. La Crosse bikers don't seem to be especially active mappers currently, so hopefully that will change. In the meantime, you might enjoy the La Crosse area bike map I made. https://laxbikemap.github.io/map/

Fixing the map https://www.openstreetmap.org/fixthemap That's not coding but looking at data issues. There's many data validation tools https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Quality_assurance#Error_...
Specifically I'm looking at USA postcodes that contain special character, or are too short or too long. I've done that now for 10 European countries. It's 1000s of small issues, some errors are 10 years old, a huge fun variety. For each I open the online editor, a nice satellite image is presented, and fix one issue. For example finding a restaurant's website.

When creating bike routes, why does Strava try to avoid bike trails/paths
Strava doesn't build their own maps. They use the service OpenStreetMap. You can head over to OSM, create an account, and begin editing the map if you find any trouble. That data will then appear in Strava, eventually. Might take several weeks for changes to appear.

Importing map from google maps
But what will help is if you are open to using (OSM)[https://www.openstreetmap.org/] instead of Google Maps. There is a (OSM plugin)[https://github.com/osrf/gazebo_osm] for Gazebo which worked well when I used it an year ago.

Tour Du Mont Blanc Upcoming Hike Map - Feedback
Using an open-sourced GIS called QGIS. Hiking trail is exported from a trail I created in Gaia GPS and other data is from OpenStreetMap.
