The app, which decodes the sound into data, is built around the Quiet library (https://github.com/quiet/org.quietmodem.Quiet). The JavaScript version of this library is used for encoding data to sound. This library works in a very similar way as old broadband modems. Such a modem converts (modulates) a digital signal into analog audio, and converts (demodulates) an analog signal into digital data. This way, computers were able to communicate over telephone lines using hisses and crackles.

Hi, LoRa has acceptable use which limits it to around 30k/day so not possible. The LTE option is a good idea, check with your mobile signal strength at the desired spot. To get it lasting you could use a rechargeable LiPo battery which should be good for 5000 recharges. A small solar panel will easily keep it topped up, especially if it’s sending one pic/day. You want to find an esp32 LTE board with good sleep stats. These may help https://randomnerdtutorials.com/power-esp32-esp8266-solar-panels-battery-level-monitoring/ with regard to connecting a remote camera, you may find it easier the other way round. Get esp32-cam board, then find a LTE modem. https://github.com/olliiiver/esp_lte_modem
