    I am currently creating a captive portal site with opennds. For this i use FAS (Forward Authentication Service) with this php script on a seperate server. In it you can see that it serves html with echo command.

    You did everything right. NoDogSplash in its most basic form has a 'continue' button that grants users internet access subject to a preset time interval. You can customize the default splash page or, if a more sophisticated portal system is needed, check out the openNDS project which is a fork of NoDogSplash.
