I would have expected a bit more from the main page.

For the FOSS video editing software out there, I tried out Shotcut (https://www.shotcut.org/) and OpenShot (https://www.openshot.org/), though both of them were either a bit unpolished or unstable, with the occasional crash along the way.

I had a way better experience with kdenlive, which was my main video editor for a bit, has the basic features I'd expect, as well as decent codec support: https://kdenlive.org/

As for other options, DaVinci Resolve still feels like the more professional software suite that you'd go for, sans the cost, albeit the UI can be a bit awkward in places to someone used to the likes of kdenlive/Sony Vegas: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve

I haven’t actually tried this but OpenShot keeps coming to mind for free, open-source video editing software.

Get Audacity (https://www.audacityteam.org/) and Open Shot (https://www.openshot.org/), or equivalents (see what you need to be able to do below) for your laptop/computer.

It can actually send to Google the media you are playing:

No. You can use a music player such as VLC Media Player to play music back tuned up or down slightly if you wish. But if people are affected by some frequencies and not others, that would be new.

I watched S1E01 using the AI-generated subs and they were surprisingly good! You just need to download both the sub file (.srt) and the raw video (.mkv) and watch it using a video player like VLC (https://www.videolan.org/vlc/). Subs and raw files at the links below thanks to u/MNLYYZYEG

It might be the media player you use. I recommend using VLC media player.

Seems to be C, not C++ to me. The C++ code is GUI wrappers to C++ GUI systems.
