What We Lose When Coding Becomes Reviewing
Dax, the creator of OpenCode — an open-source coding agent, of all the people one might expect to disagree — put the case for hand-coding cleanly in a recent interview about Spec-Driven Development:

Spec-Driven Development with OpenSpec
One reason I liked OpenSpec more than others, such as Kiro and SpecKit, is that OpenSpec is highly portable between coding assistants, codebases and stages of development. I've plugged OpenSpec into all sorts of projects, from infrastructure to Python libraries. I also work on diverse codebases, with a variety of AI friends that OpenSpec supports: OpenCode, Codex and Claude Code.

Agentic: Which App/Harness Is Best for Angular Development?
Beyond the big names, I would also keep an eye on OpenCode and T3 Code. OpenCode is a solid open-source, terminal-first option if you want a model-agnostic agent and bring your own provider setup. T3 Code is interesting for the opposite reason: it gives you an open-source GUI on top of the agents you may already pay for, like Claude Code, Codex CLI, OpenCode, or Cursor.

Best Open Source Offline AI Agent
Thanks for the recommendation, I took a look and maybe you can answer a few questions that I couldn't find a clear answer when doing some quick searching.
Regarding local models, can it use them? I found this discussion:
https://github.com/charmbracelet/crush/discussions/775
I didn't appreciate the meow maintainer's attitude converting it into a discussion and ignoring the issue even to this day.
"It does have internal telemetry and such (including updating its list of external models it can use) that can be turned off in the crush.json configuration file."
Is there a page or guide which explains the telemetry and any internet connected settings?
Forgot to add, I use Linux.

Anthropic bans use of API in OpenCode CLI tool
See https://github.com/charmbracelet/crush/pull/1783
I wouldn’t be surprised if Anthropic filed a similar request against OpenCode, and follows it up with a takedown eventually

Claude Code Can Debug Low-Level Cryptography
Aider hurt my head it did not seem... good. Sorry to say.
If you want open source "crush" and want to target something over an API https://github.com/charmbracelet/crush is excellent
But you should try Claude Code or Codex just to understand them. Can always run them in a container or VM if you fear their idiocy (and it's not a bad idea to fear it)
Like I said sibling, it's not the right modality. Others agree. I'm a good typer and good at writing, so it doesn't bug me too much, but it does too much without asking or working through it. Sometimes this is brilliant. Other times it's like.. c'mon guy, what did you do over there? What Balrog have I disturbed?
What are some alternatives?
