  • Is tor compromised?
    1 project | /r/TOR | 19 Jul 2022
Read manuals, read up on Vanguards, read some writeups on attacks on the onion routing. https://github.com/mikeperry-tor/vanguards Tor is decentralized as in everyone can host a relay/bridge and they're not all run by one entity, far from it. You can even run your own relay/bridge or pick some specific relays that you trust are not compromised and route part of connection through them. Those relays could maybe be monitored in some stealthy way too that we don't yet know about, there's no 100% bulletproof solution.
  • Any ways to add an extra security/anonymity layer to a hidden service?

Yes there is an add-on specifically for this purpose, it’s called vanguards. It’s a little more advanced to setup though.

?? Exit nodes are not used for hidden services at all. Learn how to do your hidden service bulletproof. First lesson: README_SECURITY.md & README_TECHNICAL.md You also have to have programming, network and security know-how. You cannot run a DNM with some ready-made tools.

  • hosting onion service
    2 projects | /r/TOR | 21 Apr 2021
It's pretty easy to set up an onion service. I'd suggest taking a look at the Vanguards project as well, as this can add some additional privacy features to your hidden service that aren't contained in mainline tor just yet.
  • Is Tor really untraceable?
    1 project | /r/TOR | 19 Apr 2021
If you're interested in some of the ways that Tor users can be identified, the technical readme of the Tor Vanguards project is good reading: https://github.com/mikeperry-tor/vanguards/blob/master/README_TECHNICAL.md
