Why I would advise against buying a Miyoo Mini Plus...
https://github.com/OnionUI/Onion/wiki/Installation - This almost literally spells out how to install it. Sorry, but if you really struggled to install Onion that badly then you have a skill issue.
The wiki (which is on the GitHub page where you should have downloaded your OnionOS release) is actually quite detailed as far as installation: https://github.com/OnionUI/Onion/wiki/Installation
- Tried to install onion OS twice on a brand new sandisk 128gb. Formatted it before trying the second time. Am I doing something wrong? Shows it’s charging and then I hit power and shows dead battery but it’s not dead.

I just installed the zip from the Github. I’ve watched through a few tutorials and they never mentioned anything else

They're different. Node uses libuv while chromium uses libevent. You're also seeing different APIs for working with the event loop like nextTick() in Node that doesn't exist in browsers.
