Recently migrated from Notion to Obsidian
Before they breathed new life into that project I used the following to better manage tables: - https://github.com/tgrosinger/advanced-tables-obsidian - https://github.com/ganesshkumar/obsidian-excel-to-markdown-table

Show HN: Sheet Markup – add spreadsheets to a Markdown document
I use advanced tables[0] and Excel to markdown tables[1] plugins - they make working with tables in Obsidian a bit easier.
That said, I think tables are markdown's Achilles heel - anything involving multi-line content starts to make things complicated.

What are some must have plugins for beginners with Obsidian
I really like make.md for its powerful and simplified design. Advanced Tables and Excel to markdown table are great if you are working with tables a lot and also "smaller" plugins like paste url into selection and tag wragler really can make your life easier.

Tables In Obsidian
I can recommend https://github.com/tgrosinger/advanced-tables-obsidian, makes dealing with tables much easier.

What do you guys think about the way Obsidian handles tables? I spent 20 mins trying to figure out why these last two rows wouldn't render, but it looked fine in Typora.
As usual you've probably got to rely on plugins. [Table Enhancer](https://github.com/Stardusten/ob-table-enhancer) isn't released yet, but it's very usable. I used to use [Advanced Tables](https://github.com/tgrosinger/advanced-tables-obsidian) but Table Enhancer is better, so I only use it to auto-format the markdown now.

Is there a free non-cloud based word processor you like?
It might not be exactly what you're looking for, but it is free and it's all local. If you decide to give it a go, try a few of the community made plugins (I use Longform, Advanced Tables, Templater and Tracker) to see just how cool and easy it is to customise. Installing directly from the community plugins browser isn't the most secure, but you can manually install whatever you want just by downloading directly from GitHub. It's a lot easier than it sounds!

making pretty notes faster?
In terms of making elements which look good quickly getting great plugins and learning them in and out is the move. For me advanced tables is a must have. I can create table about as quickly as I can filling out excel sheets. Data view is another great one as well as banners and buttons. There is also a notions like tables which is amazing in its functionality but still pretty early in development.

Task management with Obsidian
So far when I search for Todo / Tasks with Obsidian, I see obsidian-tq. While an amazing plugin, it does not replicate my familiar workflow. Since there are a few plugins that emulate org-mode behavior in Obsidian (the most popular being obsidian-advanced-table), is there some plugin, that replicate this feature as well?
What are some alternatives?
