nwg-wrapper VS Waybar

Here's a script that uses nwg-wrapper to display a countdown - it would be easy to modify it to display a digital clock.

Here's my script. It forks off a playerctl --follow with a custom format to work around read skipping empty items (like a song without an artist). You don't have to do that, I just prefer that so I can add nwg-wrapper to view album art and song title on my desktop without spinning up another playerctl read loop.

If your compositor supports layer-shell (i.e., not Gnome) then maybe nwg-wrapper would work.

I had a play with gtklock today and wondered if it would work with nwg-wrapper to enhance the lock screen. It turns out that they work together very well - see screenshot. I've also modified my script for various styles of locking so that it supports gtklock: mylock

If I understand https://github.com/Alexays/Waybar/wiki/Configuration correctly, what is to be displayed is defined in a JSON file that can be located in one of the directories mentioned.

For power menus and stuff like that, people generally use rofi (there's a fork for wayland), or eww, which is more recent. Waybar could also work I guess.

but fedora uses the default theme for waybar so just yoinking it from the waybar github works if you want to (it's the config and style.css files)

Switch to Arch Linux with Wayland & https://github.com/WillPower3309/swayfx. Then add https://github.com/Alexays/Waybar for status bar.

I don't know any coding but that script relates to Waybar, so maybe Waybar is responsible for that file. Did you install Waybar or install something that included it?

I have the same issue and dropped waybar due to unresolved bugginess when using the cursor follows focus option https://github.com/Alexays/Waybar/issues/1047. I switched to use Yambar because I like the philosophy behind dnkls programs but it lacks a sys tray for understandable reasons
