When using the notion API in typescript, you’ll find it difficult to use the typing provided as notion auto-generates the typing which leads to a large union of types aggregated in a few types. This poses a problem when you want a type definition for a specific property or block type. You don’t have a type defined for them as those definitions are part of very large union (which isn’t easily readable either). This is not ergonomic to work with. It’s a document editing application. A document title might occur in the browser’s titlebar, in the header of the main editor, in a “mention” (a link to the document), and in multiple places in the user’s sidebar - like in both their “Favorites” section and in the the contents of their team.

When the user edits the document title, we need to update all those UI bits to render the new title. I have a hard time imagining some imperative code that iterates over all the possible views that may render a title to mutate them.

Something that I always felt was lacking in WYSIWYG editors (even the top ones, like Notion) is good support for code editing. Granted, technical writing is a niche use-case and you can get by with simple syntax highlighting and some copy-pasting. That said, I wanted to try something else — I wanted to integrate a full-blown code editor.

Notion-like editor with blocks. These will return bare-bones HTML so you have full control over the styling.

You can also try notion.so but no mindmap functions. But eccelletn for second brain, PARA method and GTD method

TL;DR: Up to you but I suggest paper and pen then retyping it up onto a note hosting site like notion.so .
