What you want is vmaf. ffmpeg let's you calculate a vmaf score for any video you'd like, if you want a gui to do this a bit more comfortably, i have used nmkoder in the past

Hi, i have recently switched from HEVC to AV1 due to lack of support on devices. First time encoding a movie. It says something like 110 hours to finish encode… is this normal? . specs are as follows: handbrake: apple M1 16gb ram software encode using handbrake 1080p slow preset 8.5mbps

PMS: Optimizer/transcoder unnecessarily transcodes video when transcoding FLAC > AAC audio
workaround: i used nmkoder to transcode the audio to AAC 256 (left video alone), and the resultant file direct played just fine. i think this should prove that the error i get above is bogus(?)

Handbrake has AV1 options in the nightly releases. There are lots of encoders that wrap FFmpeg into a GUI such as Fastflix, nmkoder, qencoder, or Not Enough AV1 Encoders.

I think notenoughav1encoders is another one but I had only just remembered that one. Might be worth a check out though

Tools like NEav1e (https://github.com/Alkl58/NotEnoughAV1Encodes/releases) will do a better job with AOMEnc encoding, maintaining a better quality and efficient CPU use. However, it may require a lot of disk space for encoding (depending on your chosen encoding configuration).

Handbrake has AV1 options in the nightly releases. There are lots of encoders that wrap FFmpeg into a GUI such as Fastflix, nmkoder, qencoder, or Not Enough AV1 Encoders.

Just give it a try using https://github.com/Alkl58/NotEnoughAV1Encodes or whatever, svt-6 is fairly quick.
