Please help me find a semi Permanent OS
personally, KDE neon makes a great, stable windows-like os on Linux for me. as for file sharing, the best method is a hard/flash drive to store files. if you want to share files between computers on the same network use nitroshare

nitroshare
Nitroshare allows you to send files over WiFi on Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, and Android. It's P2P so all your files aren't intercepted by anyone else and they don't require any servers to be up and running, just for you to be on the same network. It's also open source on GitHub. I've used it for a few months and it's great. Link: https://nitroshare.net/
