What is the best ad blocker source for Android?
I've been using nextdns a lot for the past few months, and it's been great.
-
you're welcome
you do not need any kind of special hardware for a DNS adblocker. Personally I just use nextDNS - it's pretty quick to setup - though some of it's adblock lists block access to the app store, so you have to whitelist that or just turn it off when you want to download a new app.

God damn. In situations like this how can I detect the fake one? This is truly scary.
Maybe use a DNS provider that filters? https://nextdns.io Google DNS may do this too, but I’m not sure
Pi-hole (with every reasonable blocklist I can find) protects me from many of these domains. NextDNS would be another option for DNS-based blocking for people who don't want to administer it themselves. I also plan to use DNSTwist to generate additional blocklists for typo-based phishing that I can plug into the Pi-hole for important sites.

Stop the porn!
I use nextdns.io for this reason, and it has a handy app for ios/android so you can even force it on there for when he's smart enough to use a hotspot or WIFI at a friends house. It's totally worth the 1,99 per month and provides TONS of options

What are some privacy-focused tools, services, and practices that I should get into a habit of using?
Also, keep in mind, unless your dns is encrypted your isp can see it. A good way to illustrate this is with something like https://www.dnsleaktest.com I personally use nextdns so that I can block ads etc, but quad9 would be a good choice too. https://www.dnsleaktest.com https://nextdns.io

What is the one application that you'd never uninstall and why?
Netguard, because it lets me limit internet access to the apps I want to have Internet access. Also, because I use the GitHub version, it has ad blocking capability.

“Offline” Setup
My solution was to use NetGuard to block all outgoing connections. It is a free, open-source, Dutch developed app with a lot of online popularity. NetGuard creates a local VPN and routes all outgoing traffic through the VPN - allowing the app to then decide to "sink" the traffic or let it pass through (see FAQ for more details). Or at least - as someone else commented - the outgoing information you can trust the device to send via VPN (sorry can't find the original comment again). In other words there are no guarantees that my information isn't still being sent to unwanted parties. But for me it is sufficient enough to go through with this "offline" setup.

How do you trace expenses through Credit Card/Bank Statements?
another curious doubt, https://github.com/M66B/NetGuard says "No tracking or analytics". Is there any independent way of confirming that NetGuard does not access internet?
