Spotifyd
Have tried this several times but I find it drops off the network as a remote play device.
If you have a PC with the Spotify app running, that appears as a remote play device to other clients.
Otherwise I found ncspot to be more reliable than spotifyd: https://github.com/hrkfdn/ncspot/

Alternative Spotify clients?
ncspot is good, although it's maybe the client least likely to mesh with the whole "let a music player control lights in my room" mentality.

- de circa 2 ani folosesc un client de Spotify pentru terminal scris in Rust si numit ncspot. N-am avut niciodata consum mai mare de 60mb ram pe el. Nici nu mai stiu cum arata clientul de desktop. recomand 120%

Hello Steam Deck community, I would like to share an alternative to the Spotify Flatpak. As you might have known, the app installed on Discover store is not optimized in gaming mode. Therefore, I investigated in a fantastic alternative ncspot. It is a third-party Spotify player with a terminal UI.

Spotify_player on Steamdeck with distrobox
The Spotify on the Discover Store doesn't allow you to run in the terminal and using the terminal will give it a nice performance boost without the GUI overhead, which is what is being achieved using spotify-payer. The error you sent seems to indicate that you run cargo run spotify_player in your home directory. If you want to use cargo run to run the application, you should first clone the project and change the directory to the project root folder, so something like git clone https://github.com/aome510/spotify-player.git && cd spotify-player && cargo run spotify_player
