nbdkit VS aria2

This is correct, but doesn't quite explain why. It's because when you accept contributions from a variety of authors, without using a CLA, then your code base ends up with a patchwork of copyright, making relicensing practically impossible as you have to get buy-in from every author or else determine that author's contributions and remove/rewrite them.

GPL/LGPL are excellent licenses, but this patchwork of copyright can apply for any license you use. I think an exception might be made for a plain "C-like" struct that doesn't initialize members or contain anything except basic types. In the specific example[0] the code is actually surrounded by extern "C" { ... } so I suppose that the compiler "knows" this is a plain C struct?

We relicensed[1] a project which had 10 contributors, and we got every single one of them to do an Acked-by (by email) which took some weeks. That was the advice from our lawyers. Can't imagine the impossible hassle of doing the same for something like Linux.

For sites with limited download speeds I usually use aria2 (via terminal) since it supports segmented/multi connection downloading. But I guess this wouldn't work with 1fichier, since with these sites you usually don't get direct link to the file and/or sites like these limit the number of parallel connections. I also used it for torrents for a while, but I wouldn't recommend doing this anymore.

Try a download utility like aria2c it's on GitHub. It's a command line utility but it makes using direct downloads less painful by caching downloads and starting where you leave it off. https://github.com/aria2/aria2 Download it from the releases page

You'll need two pieces of software: yt-dlp and aria2. These are tools that help you download videos from the internet. Once downloaded, place them both in the same folder on your computer.
