Hugo theming question
For the favicon, the text doesn't come from the image. Just create a static/img/ folder at the project's top level and then put a file called favicon.png in there. If you want to use a different format besides PNG, change line 28 of the head.html partial template (https://github.com/panr/hugo-theme-hello-friend/blob/master/layouts/partials/head.html) so that it says (for example) favicon.jpg for a JPG file. That said, I'd suggest using PNG.
I am in the process of moving my existing website from WordPress on an old-school web hosting service to Hugo on S3/CloudFront on AWS. At the moment my Hugo website is using the hello-friend theme. I'm a platform engineer, not a webdev, and I only have so much time available to work on this. I'm not sure how best to achieve the following, e.g. use a different theme; try and customise this theme etc. I'd like to:
...so then, as in the original Hello Friend repo, you'd have baseof.html pulling in the appropriate partials. That is the basis of the advice I gave earlier.
