mpv.net VS streamlink

There's a pinned issue on the github page about the state of mpv.net development from January 2023 where the dev says that they started working on a cross-platform successor of mpv.net instead.

mpv.net - A great open-source lightweight video player based on mpv with support for many formats and extensive configuration. Replaces MPC, VLC, PotPlayer, Windows Media Player, etc. Strongly recommend replacing your current video player with this, since programs like VLC are bloated and can have issues playing back videos and exhibit weird artifacts.

You can use mpv (I use mpv.net as GUI) since IINA is just based on it.

The only video player I know of that supports alpha channels is mpv though - https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv - idk how this one does, the usual windows version of mpv: https://github.com/mpvnet-player/mpv.net it probably supports it too

Haven't watched much twitch in the last 5-10 years, but Streamlink [0] still seems active, and was a really nice experience before as a CLI and standalone media player enthusiast.

A summary of my use case: I like to watch Twitch streams via streamlink. For that purpose I use wtwitch, a terminal program which allows me to maintain a list of my favourite channels without a Twitch account, check which of those streamers are currently online and run a command to open their streams via streamlink.

Streamlink has very detailed and newbie friendly documentation. Here's the plugin you'd need to scrape Kick links.

Next you will need streamlink, again in the same powershell instance type.

It's broken at the moment due to the update that killed the Alternate Player but Streamlink should be a good solution, it's active so it should be fixed soon and uses VLC or other compatible media players and Chatterino or Chatty for chat

Streamlink as well. There is an open issue on their Github.

If you're okay with command-line interfaces, I find Streamlink is very good for this - I've never had to wait for any ad breaks when using it (but I almost never use it since I primarily use Twitch on mobile) so YMMV.
